Situated just few kms from Goa, Vengurla is a magnificent coastal town situated on the blanks of the Arabian sea and a perfect weekend gateway destination. The beautiful place along with multiple roaring beaches is adjoined with coconut, cashew, mango and jack-fruit groves.

The place which was once a busy trade centres of export and import during the period of Shivaji Maharaj, is over-shadowed by Goa on South and Malvan in North. But now days, Vengurla is becoming quite common among travelers who are looking for same fun like Goa with more tranquility, clean and long serene beaches, dense green vegetation’s and alluring crystal clear sea water. It is also a heaven for bird watchers.  The rocky island in Arabian sea makes it a perfect secret holiday destination. Nivati Beach : Nivati beach, situated in Parule village of Sindhudurg district, is an isolated beach of cottony white sand which embraces the mighty Arabian sea of the Konkan coast. The beach is the prominent attraction of Nivati village near Vengurla and attracts number of tourists every year. The beach is a perfect destination to get out of the daily hustle and bustle of the city life and to spend some tranquil and peaceful time in the nature while listening to the melodious sound of sea waves.


Nivati Fort : This ecstatic fort was built by then King of Maratha Emperor, Great Shivaji Maharaj. The fort gives a picturesque view of nearby Bhogave beach. One can also observe the Rampani fishing here which is a form of seasonal technique of fishing and takes place mostly in coastal regions in and around Vengurla. One can enjoy this extraordinary type of fishing in Monsoon and during winter i.e. from the months of August until January. Additionally, if the day is good, one can also catch some glimpses of Dolphins dancing in the ocean water.

At the foot of the fort, there is a group of 3 rocky islands in the sea, known as Nivati Rocks. A stretch of around 5 km of backwaters is a beautiful place to be with your loved ones to capture some beautiful moments.

Sagareshwar Beach : With the alluring crystal clear water along the sandy stretches and Cajurina grooves lines, Sagareshwar beach is undoubtedly one of the amazing beaches to visit. It is perfect spot to enjoy swimming and dolphin watching. A temple of Lord Shiva, Sagareshwar temple is situated on the beach, one can visit the temple to seek blessings from the lord.

Vethoba Temple, Aravali : Aravali is a nearby village in Vengurla, situated at a distance of approximately 14 km from Vengurla houses famous Shri Vithoba temple, of Hindu deity. The temple holds a huge historical and mythological background and so is visited by thousands of devotees all across the year. Sateri Devi Temple is equally important in Aravali which lies close to Vithoba temple.

Shiroda Beach : If you are looking for a lazy weekend, where you just want to soak up the sun while laying on the soft sand, well then Shiroda beach is just for you. Having the ocean on a side and cypress and coconut trees on the other, makes Shiroda beach a perfect weekend destination and sight to behold. The place is a perfect combination of Goan and Maharashtrian culture and is located just around 7 km from Goa. Whenever you’re here, don’t forget to taste famous Konkani cuisines with coconut mixed curries and number of fish dishes.

Vengurla’s Lighthouse, Vengurla : Vengurla lighthouse is located around 10 km far from the beach and is one of the highest tower in nearby regions. One can reach the lighthouse through windy path followed by several steps. Tourists can get a panoramic view of the stunning Arabian sea, astonishing beaches and nearby villages from the top.

Best Time to Visit Vengurla :

Summer and Winter are the best season to visit this place. So, months from October to May are best suited to visit Vengurla.

How to Travel to Vengurla:

By Road : Private bus companies operate buses from Mumbai, Kolhapur and Pune to Vengurla. It is around 522 km from Mumbai and around 450 km from Pune.

By Rail : Konkan Railways are the best option to reach to Vengurla.

By Air : Mumbai or Pune is the nearest international airport and Ratnagiri is the nearest domestic airport which is around 200 km from Vengurla.

In all, Vengurla is a perfect place for peaceful, fun full, unique, isolated, solo trips, couple trips and anything else you might be looking for. The place has just about everything to offer to each one of you.
