Infosys Campus – State of the Art
As I joined Infosys in 2008, I was mesmerized by the campus and the state-of-the-art facilities in Mysore – The Cultural Capital of Karnataka. The Infosys campuses across India are a treat and leaves a sense of care, belonging and well-being that its leaders stood for. These campuses not only stand for what India is capable of but also showcase the best of Indian Information Technology infrastructure.
Infosys is an IT major which was founded by eminent scholar Mr. N. R Narayanamurthy in 1981 along with co-founders Nandan Nilekani, S.D Shibulal, S. Gopalakrishnan, K. Dinesh, N.S Raghavan and Ashok Arora. This company is one of the pioneers in the field of Information Technology and brought a revolution in that field in India. Later they explored into consulting and ITeS (Information Technology Enabled Services) and as per the last head count employs 187, 000 employees across the globe.
In order to cater to a niche clientele across the globe, Infosys founders had a vision to create state of the art infrastructure and facilities for the employees and the clients. Each of its campus is a treat to the eyes and I still remember my own jaw-dropping experience when I joined Infosys as an employee on January 7, 2008.
Infosys campuses – A serene and exhilarating experience
Infosys hosts its training programs for all its software and BPO professionals in its Mysore campus and its 337 acre lush green campus is a masterpiece in its own. The Mysore campus is the largest corporate university and the library assembled by this Indian MNC can beat the libraries of some of the best global universities. The main building of the Infosys Mysore campus is inspired by Greek Architecture. Some experts believe that it is a replica of the Vidhana Soudha, the assembly located in Bangalore.
The Infosys Bangalore campus is spread across 81 acres which houses a golf court along with gyms, swimming pool and other recreational facilities. Along with work, Infosys believes in creating a great work life balance for all its employees. So after work if you want to loosen your muscles, a quick trip to the steam bath or sauna bath will do the wonders. Even a dip in the Jacuzzi will take away all your fatigue.
There are two facilities in Rajiv Gandhi IT Park in Hinjewadi, Pune. The phase 2 office is spread across 120 acres. The Infosys Hyderabad campus was awarded with the highest LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) in 2014.
In Chennai, Infosys has one 126 acre campus in Mahindra city which is in the heart of the city. There is another Infosys campus in Sholinganallur, in the outskirts of the city which is spread across 13.26 acres. I myself stayed there overnight when I had gone for my visa stamping in 2010.
In August, 2014, Infosys bought 27.75 acres of land in sector 85 of NOIDA in the NCR region of Delhi and the construction of a world class campus is underway.
Infosys Jaipur campus houses Infosys technologies and Infosys BPO processes spread across 200 across land. This SEZ facility is a part of the Mahindra World project which houses many other corporates.
Infosys believes in remaining transparent and on a regular basis ‘’Meet your leader sessions’’ are organised in in these auditoriums where the employees can listen to the leader and ask questions about the company & where it’s headed. The audio visual systems aided by Bose speakers are world-class and one will be mesmerised to be present in that environment.
Infosys often invites eminent guests to present lectures and renowned artists to perform and often the auditorium is used for such purposes. All the Infosys campuses have these auditoriums which are even connected through video conferencing for any inter- DC (Delivery Center) meets.
The bowling alley and the cinema hall- Have fun while you work
Infosys Mysore campus has a bowling alley and a full-fledged multiplex movie theatre for the new joiners to have a great time during their initial training days. All the Infosys campuses are so big, that they have to be travelled in cycles. There are smokeless golf carts to transport clients and other members of the leadership team.
The golf court, basketball court, the volley ball court- Stay healthy always
Infosys campuses look like a high-end resorts which have recreational facilities of every kind. If you are into sports, then joining Infosys will be an added advantage. Infosys Bangalore campus has a golf court which is maintained as per the international standards. There are multiple snooker pools which open after 17:30 for the players.
The food courts- Mouth-watering subsidised menu will set the mood right
I loved the buffet menu in La Terrace and often went with my colleagues for a treat in the Infosys Bangalore campus. Apart from that you will find subways, dominos, coffee days to pick up a quick sandwich or coffee. If you want an elaborate south Indian meal, then Golconda was the favourite food court for our group.
And Terminus was meant for Italian food lovers and Rajasthani food lovers. There were Chinese, Punjabi and many other cuisines which could be savoured in this food court. Even the freshly baked cakes and savouries were our favourite in the evenings. We loved the “pani poori” and “sev puri” as an evening snack and most of us took a quick snack break before leaving for the day.
Green building concepts
Infosys believes in conserving the natural resources and creating minimum waste. Being an IT company it does not manufacture anything and does not emit any toxic gases in the air or release any toxic materials to the water bodies.
Infosys uses the recycled water from the lavatories for watering the vegetation in all its campuses. Infosys spends a lot of money in installing energy efficient lighting and AC systems. Many of the Infosys campuses have an in-house solar power unit which produces electricity for the functioning of the campus.
During the day-time ample sunlight enters the buildings and Infosys emphasises on efficient day lighting. The waste-management is done in the in-house plants of most of the Infosys campuses and the bio-waste is used as manure for the plantations. Even the food waste is sent to the piggeries.
Infosys not only provides a great career to its employees, it looks after the complete well-being of every employee and supports the community through many CSR (corporate social responsibility) activities. There are multiple training programs for developing leaders and imparting technical skills. The higher education programs are world-class and many like me considered Infosys as an extension to our college lives.
