Deomali – The Hidden Gem Of The Eastern Ghats

India is a place which has numerous hill stations. The most popular one among them happens to be Shimla, Manali and Kashmir. However, many tourists have always complained about one common thing and that it is very crowded. This is not only true for these 3 destinations but also for other hill stations like Darjeeling and Gangtok which are said to be very congested. However, if you visit any hill station in Eastern Ghats of India you might be able to avoid the rush. There are many hill stations in these ghats which are not only less crowded but also magnificent when it comes to sightseeing. In this article, I would be talking about one of the hill stations located in the eastern ghats and that hill station is Deomali which is situated in Arunachal Pradesh.

Why visit here?

There are many reasons why you should visit Deomali. The most important reason according to me would be because of the peace you get here. You may argue that hill stations are already peaceful places then why chose Deomali when one can go to Manali. The reason is that first of all Manali is always filled with people; no matter whenever you go there you would always get a rush. Moreover, due to the rush, the people over there take advantage of charging unrealistic prices for everything. However, things are different when you talk about Deomali. It has a population of approximately 7000 people only and it is more like a tribal village. Such kind of villages is a very popular tourist attraction in Andhra Pradesh.

What can you expect here?

In order to get to this place, you will have to go through a little bit of pain. This is the main reason why tourism is not popular in the eastern ghats. Unlike, Manali and Kashmir where you can easily take road trips, flights and trains to reach this place, it is difficult to reach Deomali and other hill stations of the eastern ghats. The roads are not good, there are a few hill stations where road connectivity is not there and one has to travel by boat. However, if you are a person who has the capacity to go through a little stress to witness nature’s beauty then you certainly need to visit this place.

Major attractions?

You can expect snow-clad peaks, hills, rivers, valleys, deep forests and a lot of greenery. It doesn’t have major tourist attractions. It is one of the places in India where you could only expect to see nature’s beauty and nothing else. One more important thing to see in Deomali are the tribes here. They have their own culture and festivals and observing them would help you witness a new way of living altogether.

How do I get here?

If you are planning to reach this place then the nearest airport should be Dibrugarh. However, if you are planning to reach here by car then you can take a bus from Naharkatika. I would suggest that you take the bus; the roads and the fresh air would cherish your mood like anything.

There are many places in India like Deomali which aren’t that popular but it doesn’t change the fact that these are the places which are untouched places where the pollution is extremely low. Due to less involvement of humans, these places are still as natural as they can get. If you are willing to go through a little bit of pain to see the greener side of nature then pack your bags and leave for Deomali right now!
