The Vanghat Jungle lodge is a wildlife lodge in the Northern Indian forest. It is one of the most remote wildlife lodges and is an internationally acclaimed eco-lodge. The lodge is located at the bank of Ramganga river in the Kalagarh Tiger reserve division. Vanghat is a place for true nature lovers and wildlife enthusiasts. The lodge was created in 2006 and it is aimed at keeping the jungle away from the development and protecting its resources. Getting to Vanghat
Vanghat lodge is 2 km away from the nearest road. You need to cross two bridges, one of which is a bamboo raft, through the Ramganga valley and past a small village to reach the lodge. You need to have an average fitness to reach there and it is recommended that you carry lightweight luggage.
The Indira Gandhi Airport is the nearest airport to the lodge which is 300km from the lodge. You can also book a private pick up and drop to the Vanghat lodge. If you have your own vehicle, it takes around 7 hours to reach Vanghat where you get a secure parking place and then you have to continue the journey by foot. The Ramnagar railway station is the nearest railhead to the Vanghat Valley. The Vanghat lodge provides pickup facility from the station to Vanghat as well.
Food and Accommodation in Vanghat:
The Vanghat Lodge has 9 private cottages which include 5 stone cottages and 4 mud cottages. The cottages are designed to accommodate 3 guests in each cottage. Each cottage has an attached bathroom and veranda. The cottage is set amidst breathtaking surroundings and aligns perfectly with nature.
The Lodge is made by keeping nature in mind. Instead of Air Conditioners, energy-efficient fans are used and the toiletries provided are organic and biodegradable. The Vanghat Lodge provides RO drinking water instead of the packaged ones.
Apart from these 9 cottages, there is a separate dining area, researcher’s quarters and a kitchen. The food offered is prepared by professional chefs who are expert in local dishes along with Indian, Tibetan and Continental fare and specialities. The food is served in the dining area of the lodge. You can choose from a variety of meals of the Vanghat Lodge or you can also request special dietary.
Matchan – Watch Tower:
The Watch Tower of the Vanghat, completely made up of wood provides you with a spectacular 360 view of the Vanghat forest. Wildlife enthusiasts and photographers can spend their day on the Matchan to spot various species of the forest including the star Bengal Tiger.
