Ziro – A Small Yet Beautiful Hill Station Of Andhra Pradesh

Everybody likes to go to hill stations but the problem with hill stations in India is that they have become too crowded which is somewhat taking away the fun of hill stations. What about I tell you about a hill station which is located in a small town far away from the crowd and the city. Arunachal Pradesh is the home to many beautiful places and in this state, there is one particular town known as Ziro. Whenever we talk about hill stations, we immediately picture snow, greenery and relaxation in our head and this is the kind of experience Ziro has to offer. In this article, I would tell you all you need to know about this place.

1. About the place

This place is located at an altitude of 1500 metres and is surrounded by mountains on all 4 sides. It can be defined as a “picture perfect” location to spend your vacation. There are a few places which are so beautiful where you feel like you are looking at the amazing wallpapers in Windows 7. It has been named as a world heritage site and has a huge variety of flora and fauna. The small town is home to many tribes and is an ideal destination for all those who like silent places.

2. How to reach the place

Reaching this place is a challenge. If you like adventure then you would fall in love with Zero. There are no proper highways constructed for this road nor will you find any proper railway stations which are located close to Ziro. The only possible option is via airways where you could come to Lilabari and from here you might get a conveyance to Ziro. You would be facing a lot of problems in reaching this place but trust me once you do and roam around Ziro no other destination would be good enough for you.

3. Best time to visit

Ziro is one of the few places in India which has tourists visiting it throughout the year. The humidity is pretty high during the summers and this place receives heavy rainfall during the monsoon. Every season has its advantages and disadvantages but overall the best time to visit this place would be from October – February. During this time, you can expect cold weather with very less humidity. Avoid coming here during the monsoons it really spoils the fun.

4. Best places to visit

Though Ziro is a small place there are many tourist spots here. Visiting all of them might not be possible for you so I would narrow it down to the top 7.

1. Meghna Cave Temple

The first place you need to visit in Ziro is Meghna Cave Temple. If you are coming to this place make sure you charge your phone or video camera because you would want to take videos of this place. The beauty of this place cannot be described in words. The temple is located at an altitude of around 500 metres and once you reach the temple, the view you get from here is so magnificent that you won’t be able to forget it during your entire life. This temple was discovered in the year 1962 and it is said that it is nearly 5000 years year old which makes it even more interesting to visit.

2. Talley Valley Wildlife Sanctuary

If you are an animal lover or a nature enthusiast then you would really love this sanctuary. You can expect to see many endangered species here; the most popular animal here happens to be the clouded leopard. In order to get to this place, you would be needing permits so make sure you make arrangements for the same beforehand. If you want you can even trek to this particular place. There are various varieties of trees which you find here, orchids, silver fir and bamboos are present in huge numbers. The sanctuary covers a massive area of over 350 square kilometres making it one of the most popular attractions of Ziro.

3. Kile Pakho

It is located at a distance of about 10 kilometres from Ziro. This place can truly be called a photographer’s delight. If you want to enjoy the view of the snow-covered Himalayan mountains then you cannot afford to miss out on this place.

4. Ziro Puto

The next place I would like to talk about is Ziro Puto which is of the most popular tourist spots in India. If you have been looking for a place to trek then this should definitely serve your purpose. More importantly, this is the place where the first administrative centre was built. You need to visit the army cantonment here; it has a lot of historical significance. If you are a solo traveller and want a little solitude time then you cannot hope for a better place than Ziro Puto.

5. Midey

This place is made for trekkers. You can reach Midey by renting a car but you won’t like it until and unless you trek to this place. This place is so beautiful that it really cannot be described in words. You would be coming across the tall trees on your way up to this place and it looks magnificent. If you like adventure then it cannot getter better than Midey.

6. Tipi Orchid research Centre

The last place that I would like to talk about is Tipi orchid research centre. This place covers an area of over 10 acres and is home to a wide variety of orchids. There is a glass house in the centre of this place which is a major tourist attraction. The view from this place is really beautiful and would really calm your senses.

As I said in the beginning that reaching the place would be tough. If you are a single traveller or have a group of young friends then Ziro is the best adventure you can think of. Every trekker hopes for a place which is challenging and beautiful and Ziro is one particular place which has both of these characteristics. So, if you are a person who is willing to take up challenges and visit a beautiful place like Ziro then pack your bags and leave for this adventurous trip right now!
