Udaipur is also known as ‘City of Lakes’ is the best and the most visited tourist destination of Rajasthan. Udaipur city possesses of various attractions which are the indication of numerous past happenings of an ancient era. Among the list of the most popular and distinct places of the Rajasthan state, Lake Palace is considered as one of the important city of curiosity in Udaipur.

Surrounded by the Pichola Lake, the amazing palace is the oldest lakes in Udaipur. A boat is always provided near the lake because the visitors need to travel through a boat to reach the Lake Palace. The Palace has now been converted into a luxurious 5 star hotel, and so it is numbered among the most romantic and beautiful hotels in India. Maharana Jagat Singh was the ruler of the Mewar dynasty under whose supervision Lake Palace in Udaipur was constructed. The Lake Palace was something like amusement spot for the ruler settled in amidst of the lake.

The Lake Palace was named after the Mewar dynasty ruler, commonly known as Jag Niwas. Jagat Singh used to invest free moments on the Palace.  Later, on the Lake Pichola, he constructed his own Lake Palace. The Lake Palace was the four eye-catching lake island named Jag Mandir, Mohan Mandir, and Arsivilas. To construct this palace, it took almost three years.


Later, Maharana Bhagwat Singh converted the palace into a romantic and lavish hotel. Hotel Lake Palace tied with the string of Taj Hotel’s palaces and Resorts in according to maintain the dignified heritage of hospitality.

The Lake Palace, situated on an island in Lake Pichola was constructed to serve as a royal summer palace. The palace is built up of white marble. The palace operating under the “Taj Hotels Resorts and Palaces” banner is now considered as a luxury 5-star hotel.

Udaipur Lake Palace is a gem of brilliant architecture which vitrine white marble building with extraordinary terraces, gardens, fountains, and courtyards. The palace was designed by Didi contractor, an American artist.  Bhagwat Singh commissioned the conversion from place to a hotel.

The palace now converted into a splendid hotel has multiple no. of rooms which are named as Dhola Mahal, Ajjan Niwas, Khush Mahal, Bada Mahal, and Khush Mahal. These rooms are beautifully designed with stained glass and crystal artworks. In these rooms, there are marvelous paintings which are related to the bygone time.

Lake Palace which is situated in Udaipur city is considered as the most romantic and beautiful hotels in Rajasthan. Under the banner of Taj Hotel’s palaces and resorts, the Lake palace hotel provides the tourists with world class facilities. The Lake Palace is a mesmerizing view for all the visitors as it is located in the middle of the Pichola Lake. The Lake Palace was built by the Maharaja Jagat Singh which is spread across 1.5-hectare area of the island. The Lake Palace was built as a royal summer palace retreat but, later it got converted into a luxury palace hotel. However, the conversion has not carried away the royal features of the palace. The visitors will truly enjoy their visit to the palace. A visit to the palace will be an enriching experience even if the visitors are not so much interested towards history. On visiting the various rooms of the Lake Palace you will be mesmerized to see the cusped arches, painted mirrors, pink stones, and the green lotus leaves. Various recreation facilities are also equipped by the palace for the guests. The swimming pool, bar and conference center add to the attraction of the palace. Along with 8 meetings rooms, there is also a 24 hours business center.

Some other attraction of the Lake Palace in Udaipur includes portable printers, Sprint Mail, laptops, multimedia computers, Internet connectivity, workstations and cell phones. The palace also adds dining options to its features. Though these attractions are mostly part of the hotel these features make it a great place to visit as well.

To visit the Lake Palace the best time is between the months of October to March. One needs to visit the Lake palace to see its beauty and to explore it, so it’s time to plan your trip to enjoy it.
