The Solang Valley is located in between Beas Kund and Solang village, 8500 feet above sea level and 13 kms away from Manali. It is also called as Solang Nullah by local people, which means water streams that originate from mountains.  As you travel through the valley, you can enjoy the blissful slight of glaciers, apple orchards, striking flora and fauna and snow covered mountain top. The fabulous appeal of the landscape around this place makes this valley as one of the most attractive destinations in the state.

You can enjoy here with various activities in both summer and winter. If you are a person who loves to try adventurous things like parachuting, paragliding, skating and zorbing, then Solang valley is the best place to visit. Winter is the best season for you to visit for Skiing. This place is renowned for skiing which is a wonderful recreational winter sport. Solang houses various agencies to learn skiing, they provide courses and required tools for the activity and during summer skiing has been replaced with horse riding, parachuting and paragliding. There is a popular competition called Alpine Premier League for Skiing, which is admired by lots of people including foreign visitors. May – November is the best season to enjoy trekking and zorbing. Paragliding can be done anytime except monsoon season.

 If you plan your visit here in summer, then there is one more event to enjoy, which is named as Zorbing.  A huge ball which can house two people is rolled down from a 200 meter height. This game is very new and fairly practiced in India. The other interesting event is Solang Ropeway, which is the state of the art. It approximately covers 1.5 kms in an hour with vertical height of 500 meters and speed of 6m/s. It features 19 cabins which can house 8 people each. Operators provide several safety devices and security techniques to ensure passengers smooth yet secure ride. Additionally you will be accompanied by skilled professionals who are at your service during the ride.

Apart from the above described sports, you can also try quad rides, snow mobiling, camping and trekking, these activities truly define thrill and pleasure. It is suggested that, best hiking trails in and around Solang valley are Solang-Beas Kund, Solang-Patalsu, Solang-Kothi, Solang-Anjani Mahadev, Solang-Bhiraghu.

When it comes about accommodation and food, this place provides wide range of options from resorts to hi-fi hotels. Some resorts even provide you with tents, so that you can have serene stay at flourishing greenery.  You can taste delicious cuisines like Italian, Chinese, Tibetan and Indian cuisines including Punjabi and South Indian.


Since this valley is located in the sideways at the top of Kullu valley and just 13 kms away from Manali, you can also explore various beautiful locations in Manali. Apart from the sports events, there are few other places to explore in and around Solang.

Beas River tops the list of places to visit. Roaming around the bank of Beas gives a serene feeling and makes you feel excited. Make sure you enjoy the rafting while you are here. Riverside views on the outskirts of valley, offers you blissful moments. It is also said that this river is considered as a holy river by the native people. There are few other places to visit including Hidimba Devi Temple, Manikaran Gurudwara, Gulaba, Naggar Castle, Van Vihar National Park and Jogini waterfall.

Solang Valley is easily reachable from Manali by roadway, you can also reach here through airway, and the nearby airport is at Bhuntar which is around 50 km away. The nearest rail station is at Shimla which is 290 km away.
