Located at the far end of a breathtaking spot where the ocean meets the river Rio de Ourem, Sinquerim beach is located in the sleepy coastal village -Sinquerim of the Bardez district, North Goa. A 8 km long serene, sandy beach is adorned with the white unspoiled stretch of endless sand, a few Portuguese-style holiday homes and chic resorts in the palm trees lined roads, Sinquerim beach is the most beautiful, serene and perfect holiday destination in North Goa far from all the hustle bustle of city life.

The beach around 14 km far from Mapusa and around 6 km away from Calangute is stunningly gorgeous and quieter than the rest of the beaches of Goa. The serene and pristine setting of the beach attracts over thousands of tourists every year to visit this beach.


Things to Do at Sinquerim beach:

The Aguada fort was constructed in the early 17th century by Portuguese to protect their territory in Goa against any foreign sea based attack. The stone fort is a spectacular feat of engineering lies just next to the beach and got very famous immediately after the release of a Bollywood film Dil Chahta Hai, a scene of which was shot at this fort. Capture your lifetime moment there.

At sea level of the fort, there is a watering station and – in Portuguese, agua literally means water. This is how the fort got its name as Aguada. It is said that the water storage power of the fort was among the largest than other forts in the East.


Aguada Lighthouse:

The 4-storey lighthouse at the top floor of Aguada fort attracts a lot of tourists by being the oldest lighthouse in Asia, which was built in 1864.  Even today, the lighthouse still performs a fine job to guide and help the ships along the sea line.

Visit Sinquerim Village:

Sinquerim village is a coastal village in the North Goa. The village has  palm-lined roads that are dotted with the traditional Goan houses and Portuguese colonial mansions. Some of these villas and mansions are now converted in to the Calizz Museum to collect and store the history of this region.

Enjoy the Sunburn Festival:

The biggest music festival in Asia and among the list of top 10 on earth, Sunburn festival  officially started from 2007 in Goa. The festival which began as a trial electronic music event has now developed into a massive outrageous business house music franchise. Every year over tens of thousands of tourists participates in this concert and dance to the music of some biggest names in popular electronic music. Indulge yourself in to the music here.

Water Sports:

Sinquerim Beach is among one of the very few beaches in Goa which is famous for top adventure water sports like scuba diving, fishing, dolphin sightings, and parasailing and one can even rent water skis, windsurfers and other water toys and is quite cheap to rent these tools.

It is a perfect spot to enjoy some wonderful time out with the family and enjoy water sports and castle making or with friends and playing beach volleyball is great fun.. There are multiple shacks which offers delicious seafood with a beer. One can simply enjoy strolling on the sand around the crystal clear blue water and simply laying and chilling out on the beach.

Boat rides

Take a boat tour around Sinquerim beach and discover unseen coves which were once used by smugglers and cherish the occasional dolphin dance.

Banana boat ride

A very tricky boat ride which twists and turns constantly and finally flips customers right into the giant and blue-watered sea. Later, the well trained staff gather all these surprised and shocked tourists and takes them back to the beach safely.

The popular Baga and Calungute road is just nearby the Sinquerim beach and it is a main centre for ‘all things shopping’ in Goa.

Sinquerim beach is situated on the north side of famous Baga beach and has wide and tranquil stretches of endless powder sand. This non-ending and extended sandy stretches along the coastline is ideal for a night walk. The feel of the cold water and shimmering sands embracing your bare feet gives you out of the feeling.

Best Time to Visit

The best time to visit Sinquerim beach is from November to February. For monsoon lovers, June to October is perfect weather to enjoy rain here.

How to Reach to Sinquerim

By Air: Nearest airport is Dabolim which is around 37 km from Sinquerim

By Rail: The nearest railway station is Thivim, located at a distance of around 18 km

By road: The roads are good and very well connected. The capital city Panaji is about 13 km. Self-driven cars, cabs, taxis and bikes are easily available for rent.

Sinquerim beach is small, vibrant yet awesome. One can spend an entire day at the beach just by sitting and laying on the beach and getting tanned or just sitting in a shack and enjoying beer.
