The National Park is located in the Lahaul and Spiti district of Himachal Pradesh. It was established in the year 1987 and forms an integral part of the Great Himalayan National Park conservation area. The history of the National Park mainly revolves around the notion of Buddhism. The residents in the Lahaul and Spiti district follow Buddhism. The East India Company took control of the Pin Valley National Park in the year 1846. However, after India achieved its independence, the Indian Government took over the control and declared it as a national park in the year 1987. The Pin Valley National Park comprises of 17 villages which have a population of 1600 people.

How to reach?

As the National Park is located at an altitude of 3500 meters above the sea level, you can opt for National Park Trekking. On the other hand, this national park can be approached via two routes, the Shimla route, and the Manali route. You should note that the Manali route remains open from June to October whereas the Shimla route is accessible from March until December. A majority of the roads in the Lahaul and Spiti district remains closed on winters.
