Sasaram is one of the oldest cities of India and has seen the legacy of Jagjivan Ram Babu, Shershah Suri and Sahastrabahu come to life. In the earlier days, Sasaram was often referred to as the Vihar gateway. This was due to the pathway to the Gaya and Nalanda area. It is said that Mahatma Buddha had walked along this path on his way to achieve enlightenment in Gaya. Apart from Manjhar Kund, Sasaram is also home to a number of historical and religious monuments. Some of the notable places located in Sasaram are the Fazalganj Commercial zone, Anandi place, the Tomb area, the New area, Lala Colony and Gauraxni.

To get to Sasaram you might have to take a train or bus. There is no airport in close vicinity to the city so you might want to reach Patna via Patna airport and then take a train from Patna to the city.

You can also choose to take the bus to Sasaram from Patna. This is a 3-hour journey and there are a number of buses available.

Sasaram is quite far from the main city and it’s about 158km away from Patna by road.
