Situated at an average elevation of around 2290 m, Kufri is one of the highest and a tiny hill station in Shimla, Himachal Pradesh. During the year of 1819, British first discovered this little paradise which is around 12 km away from Shimla. Kufri is one of the famous and most visited holiday place, especially by couples because of its closeness to Shimla city and as it is quite higher in altitude than other nearby places, Kufri is all covered in snow throughout the winters. The view of the place in winter where the slopes turned into skiing trails and the panoramic vistas of the nature with its amusing climate attracts number of tourists every year and it perfectly makes a holiday spot which is far away from the city’s hustle and bustle.
Kufri drives its name originally from the local word “kufr”, which means as lake in the local language. Kufri Fun World
Kufri Fun World which is situated at around 2800 m from the sea level, is one of the uppermost fun park in the world. The amusement park has a number of exciting rides for kids. Kufri Fun World park houses go kart track which is world’s highest kart track in the world, which is designed for the adults. The amusement park is located between the snow-clad peaks of Himalayan mountains and this setting of the park makes it one of the most stunning amusement park in the world.
The park also has a canteen which has an array of delicious local as well as international food. One can reach to this park by riding a horse or a mule or by scaling the great Mahasu Peak by walk foot.
The Himalayan National Park
Spread over an area of around 90 acres, the Himalayan National Park is abode to several varieties of wild animals, mammals and almost around 180 rare species of birds. The park alos consists of different variety of western Himalayan fauna and flora and becomes one of the biggest destination that attracts tourists in large amount. Indira Tourist Park
Very close to Himalayan National Park, Indira Tourist Park is an amazing park for a quaint ambience and peaceful day out. Number of unusual species of birds can be spotted here. One can enjoy yak riding and horse riding as well. If you are beer lover, then this place is for you. Enjoy a glass of beer at beer bar while you are playing a video game at a video game station here, which is controlled by Tourism Development Corporation of Himachal Pradesh.
Things to Do at Kufri :
Mahasu Peak, the highest peak in Kufri. The ride to this highest peak is difficult to cover on feet because of the muddy routes, so it has to cover on mule or horse. Though the ride is difficult and intense, the view it has to offer you is breath taking. On the top of the peak, the temple of Nag (Snake god) is situated, which provides panoramic view of the entire place and a sight to behold. If the day is clear and bright, you can also spot Kedarnath and Badrinath ranges.

This tiny little town overlooks the stunning Giri valley and also has a tourist villa hanging exactly at the peak. Trekkers can enjoy this stunning 3 km trek from Fagu to Chharabra, while tourists can enjoy pony and yak rides.
Trekking to Chail
A one hour ride from Kufri takes you to this beautiful place, Chail. Chail is a paradise for trekkers, hikers and walkers with a number of trek trails which gets you to Chail, Shimla, Choor Peak and several other Himalayan regions. Religious Places at Kufri
At the start point of the central road from where the Kufri hill station of starts, the beautiful Bhima Kali Mata temple resides. The temple is renowned as a very sacred temple and is widely popular in the locals as well as the tourists. The biggest attraction in the temple is a serene pond, named Kupher which is thought as a holy place.
Shri Durga Mandir is another main spiritual place in the Kufri.
How To Travel to Kufri
Travel to Kufri by Flight :
Jabbar Bhatti is the nearest airport close to Shimla and then bus or cab to reach to Kufri. Other than this, Delhi and Chandigarh are also nearby.
Travel to Kufri by Train :
Nearest railway station is Shimla, which is around 13 km from Kufri. State buses and Cabs are frequently available here on hire. Since the Shimla railway is narrow gauge railway, it is not directly linked with the rest part of India. One can reach to Ambala or to Chandigarh and can then take cab or bus or toy train to reach to Shimla or Kufri.
Travel to Kufri by Road :
Kufri is easily accessible via roads. State buses to Kufri are available from Shimla, Rampur and Narkanda. One can also hire cab or taxi or private bus rides.
Best time to visit Kufri :
