The uniqueness of Kokni Kanteen is the home-made food experience offered to the guests accompanied by a drinks bar serving beer, wine and whiskey. Each fish thali is perfectly catered to with the same taste and flavor leaving the food lovers simply awestruck. They serve a special “Bappa” thali which is quite famous among the tourists and the locals. The thali comes with a combination of crab curry, fried fish, mussels and prawn curry providing an absolute sea food delight experience. Each of the preparations in the thali have a striking taste much to the amazement of the guests.

Operating for almost 47 years, the flavor of the dishes served still remains unparalleled and distinguished from the other Goan restaurants. Your taste buds are sure to relish with pleasure with the stir fry preparations of mussels and Surma Rawai and the Kokum saar. The rawa fried mutton and the fried Bombil or Bombay duck are few other delicacies served at the Kanteen, famous among the food lovers.

The desserts served at the restaurant deserve accolades offering a wide variety of options to choose and divulge into them. The well-known among them is the Serradura. It is a Portuguese word for sawdust pudding. The pudding comprises of biscuit crumbs spread over a mix of whipped cream and condensed milk.

The restaurant also has loads of appetizers to select from at affordable prices. In addition it has a variety of mock tails and cocktails in its beverages and drinks bar counter. You must not miss out on Traffik Jaaam, a cocktail prepared with vodka, orange, and lime. The combination is soothing for the tongue and is quite tasty. Guests also prefer the Kokum sherbet and melon cooler for its mock tail ranges.

If you are a vegetarian, then you would not be left disappointed. The vegetarian thali has lot to offer with rice, four types of curries, salad, pickle, chappati, curd, pappad, chutni and Kokam drink. The food quality and quantity both are satisfactory to satisfy your hunger.

Important details about Kokni Kanteen

The restaurant serves both lunch and dinner. The lunch timings are from 12:00 PM till 3:30 PM. The dinner timings are from 7:00 PM till 11:30 PM. They also offer home deliveries. Approximately the price for two persons is INR 800.

There are no reservation facilities available for the guests. You need to reach early to grab a table both for lunch and dinner. The staff is friendly and courteous. The services are good and fast. The waiters would suggest you with appropriate menus as per your taste and preferences. Though the place is small, yet the restaurant owners and staff maintain their level best in providing all the necessary comfort for the guests with their excellent behavior and facilities.
