Chowara Beach – A Haven Of Beauty In Kerala

Situated near Kovalam in God’s own country Kerala, Chowara Beach is a haven of beauty amid the pristine beauty of Mother Nature. Every year the temple hosts a festival for the devotees to attend and offer their prayers. The festival lasts for 56 days, starting from the 15th November till 15th January.

The other two attractions at the beach are the Analothbhava Church and the Aazhimala Shiva Temple. The Shiva temple is considered very holy and auspicious shrine by the locals. The church is an old one where regular masses are held on Sundays, Mondays and Fridays.


Tourists arriving at the beach also like to visit the Vizhinjam Harbor. You can observe the ships and cruise liners docked at the harbor. Photographers can capture nice pictures of the huge cargo and passenger ships.

You can watch the lifestyle of the fishermen community at the adjacent villages. It is interesting to observe the fishermen spread their Chinese fishing nets on the sea waters to fence in the fishes. The nets are spread skillfully so as to capture as many as fishes as possible. They often sell the fishes at the shore.

The nearest bus stand, railway station and airport are located in Thiruvananthapuram, the capital city of Kerala. Tourists can either hire a cab or board a bus to reach the beach.
