Ahmedabad

Also known as “Amdavad” , Ahmedabad is the largest city and former capital of Gujarat. It was the capital of the state before 1970. The city is located on the banks of the river Sabarmati at an elevation of 53 meters. A strong bond connecting the rest of the country speaks loud about Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi. Well- known as the most colorful destinations in India, a number of festivals and fairs are organized here every year. Presently, Ahmedabad is one of the most developed townships in the country and is known for various tourist attractions. Vadodara


Vadodara, also known as Baroda is situated on the banks of the river Vishwamitri in the state of Gujarat. The word “Vadodara” is derived from the word “Vatodar” which means “the stomach of the banyan tree”.  Well known as the cultural hub of India, Vadodara has beautiful museums and art galleries thus forming an integral part of the tourist attractions. Most of the travelers love to travel to Vadodara because of its planned location. The city, once marked by four gates was ruled by the Chalukya dynasty, which was later on followed by the Solankis, the Vaghelas and the Sultans of Gujarat and Delhi. The city was also known as the Sanskari Nagari because of the extraordinary patronage of culture. The huge collection in the Vadodara museum, Maharaja Fateh Singh Museum, murals of the prominent Bhagwad Gita in the Kirti Mandir, Maharaja Sayaji University portray the rich culture that developed due to the support of the Gaekwads. The city of Vadodara is on the major road and rail arteries joining Mumbai with Ahmedabad and Delhi. Because of this, the city is known as a Gateway to the Golden Quadrilateral. The public transport vehicles like taxis, buses and auto rickshaws are easily available for commuting. October to March remains pleasant and hence it is the best time for sightseeing. The weather in winters is neither too cold nor too hot. It is the perfect time to comfortably explore all the major attractions in the city. Gandhinagar

Gandhinagar is the capital city of Gujarat and lies 27 km away from Ahmedabad. It is easy to reach by road or rail in 1-2 hours. Serene and peaceful city of Gandhinagar is named after the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi. India’s second planned city, the layout was planned by architects: H.K Mewada and Prakash M Apte. Gandhinagar is a well- known educational, business and commercial center in the state and has a number of colleges, shopping malls, factories and universities. The spacious city is divided into 30 organized sectors which are well equipped. The city is famous for its most beautiful Akshardham temple. There are many others tourist places to visit in Gandhinagar viz Vintage village, Hanumanji temple, Brahmani temple. Apart from this, the city is also a foodie’s delight and one must not miss the authentic Gujarati delicacies like khakra, dhokla, khandvi, thepla and shrikhand. Surat

The diamond capital of the world, Surat is a well-developed commercial city located on the banks of the River Tapti. One of the second largest city of Gujarat, the city boasts of perfect cleanliness. The city attracts tourists who are interested in the colonial history and wildlife. Surat has the reputation of being fun-loving, easy going and light hearted with the love for food. It is an absolutely great place to visit with family and friends and have a memorable trip. There are a number of ancient monuments, architectural marvels and scenic spots that are an observer’s delight. Porbandar

One of the coastal cities of Gujarat, Porbandar is well-known as the birthplace of Mahatma Gandhi and the friend of Lord Krishna, Sudama. It is the beautiful and famous city which is properly planned possessing a number of stone buildings carved with rich artistic designs. There are numerous attractive interesting places possessing their own religious importance that fascinates travelers in large number. Kirti Mandir, Mahatma Gandhi’s birthplace is the main attraction here. Rajkot

Founded in 1620 AD by the descendent of the Jamnagar Royal Family, Rajkot is famous as the capital of the former state of Saurashtra. Though, it’s no more a capital now, the city had a glorious past and still is a favorite tourist destination because of the historic remains from the British era and also the hospitality of the people of Rajkot. Prominent for its gold purity, the city has one of the largest gold market known as “Soni Bazar”. Because of the presence of endless tourist attractions in Rajkot, thousands of tourists worldwide visit this picturesque city. The Watson Museum, Shri Ranchhoddas Ashram, Mukti Dhama, Rashtriya Shala, Jubilee Garden, Ishwariya Temple, Jagat Mandir, Tankara, Khambhalida Caves, Rampara Wildlife Sanctuary, Bangdi Bazaar etc are some of the important places of Rajkot to visit.
