It is 195kms away from Kolkata and there are many trains which go there; you will reach here in 3 hours. So, convenience should not be a problem while reaching here. After Digha comes Mandarmani. Mandarmani wasn’t one of the most popular weekend getaways near Kolkata until a few years ago. Actually the problem with Digha is that it is very crowded and many people do not like that; so the popularity of Mandarmani has increased due to this fact. The beach of Mandarmani is way cleaner than Digha and you will really enjoy once you reach here. If you plan on reaching here by Car, then it is not an issue you will reach in around 4.5hours. But if you go by train then you need to get off at Contai Railway station which is 3 hours away from Howrah Station and from there you need to take an auto or cab to reach Mandarmani.

This place is one of the most popular weekend getaways near Kolkata. It attracts a lot of tourism as because it has a lot of history related to it. Many do not know this but this place was actually called Bhbubandanga and the site was spotted by Maharshi Debendranath Tagore. Later, her son Rabindranath Tagore opened a school which followed the ancient Gurukul system. Later it turned out to be Visha-Bharti University. If you have a little interest in history then you should definitely reach this place.
